are interested in culture tours, than you could pay a visit to the Etruscan
ruins, the closest are just 10 minutes away.
Visit Etruscan tombs and museums (Populonia, Vetulonia etc.)
Enjoy the amazing Duomo of Massa Marittima, 20 min. away, and its
large off angle plaza in front of it (don't forget to try the gelato under
the arches nearby)
Drive 30 minutes to the San Galgano monastery, the famous cathedral
with no roof in the midst, of nowhere (best by moonlight…).
Discover other Monasteries such as Monte Oliveto Maggiore or the
Abbazia di Sant'Anna where the monks sing Gregorian chants daily.
For contemporary art, Niki de Saint Phalle's Tarot garden, Il Giardino
dei Tarrocchi is an hour away (we can organize special permits) as is
Daniel Spoerri's garden.
Explore the interesting Castles in virtually every hill top town
Remember Siena is only 50 min. away, San Gimignano 60 min., Pisa 70 min.,
Florence 90 min.
Pienza, Lucca, Carrara, Volterra …, just open any tourist guide, you are
in the middle of it all.
The spectacular volcanic rock towns of Pitigliano and Sorano
are built on high cliffs. Taste their wines in the endless deep ancient
wine cellars under the town. Pitigliano also boasts one of Italy's oldest
synagogues.
Or drive a bit further down towards Rome and visit the famous Santa Severa
Castle and its Saracen tower. Still active, its breathtaking history
goes back to the Romans and Etruscans
